    What is Web4.0?

There isn’t a clear standard of Web4.0. However, some of its characteristics are well defined and recognized. For example, it is “active web” that distribute knowledge intelligently. It provides personalized contents to users. It is ambiguous and seamlessly connected with human beings in human ways. And what’s more, it is autonomous and can think and act by itself with other webs, devices or human beings. In short, it understands the user and provide the service/contents accordingly.

In contrast to web3.0, Web4.0 understands us and it is knowledgeable and capable of helping us. We can simply say “I want an air ticket flying from Hong Kong to Tokyo tomorrow morning and coming back next Monday evening”. The web will base our input and its understandings on us to help, and it will also ask us for further information when something is missing to carry out the task. We no longer need to understand the web (through its UI) to figure out where to click or fill in information according to the flow designed by the web designer.

How AI helps to achieve Web4.0?

To achieve Web4.0, it is required to have human ways to perceive the world. Natural Language Processing helps the machine to understands the world linguistically. Text content is digested by NLP and then organized semantically with relationship of various entities by knowledge graph. Image and graphics are all handled by computer vision while voice is well perceived by computer speech. All these forms the AI Perception and Knowledge Engine of Web4.0.

To enable Web4.0, it also requires AI task engine which helps to analyze logically and perform the tasks required in the specific domain. It is done by the AI Task Engine.

    Transform your website to Web4.0

There are several steps to transform your website to Web4.0

    1. Turn your website to AI semantic knowledgebase. It means all your website content must be changed to some ways that semantic meanings and relations among entities are kept for retrieval and analysis.

    2. Enable your website to communicate with human beings in human ways. It means your website can see, listen, speak and translate machine language. Thus, your website can understand your user and perform as requested rather than the user find ways to let your website work such as following some pre-defined steps of your system.

    3. Enable your website to think and act autonomously. It means under the specific scope of your website, it can response and perform tasks by itself. Thus, each Web4.0 website is just like an individual that can act and work with other website, device or human being by itself.

With the advance of AI, all three steps are achievable. So, we could expect more and more web4.0 websites in coming few years!
